All

Despite the upcoming March break, we had a good turnout where no-one was made to wait for an empty spot.  Already we see improvement by the new players at the club.  Congratulations!

Good tip.  To improve, you must play games to identify areas of your game that needs improvement.  By doing so, your name would end up in the ladder board and eligible for a prize at the end of the season in June.  Also, while you are improving, you will notice how important the blade and rubbers are important to the game.  You can ask the most experienced players about your blade for tips.

I have finally added the new players to the post email list.  Sorry for the delay.

The increase in admission fee did not seem to affect the turnout, which is good as it will ensure the survival of the club for the next season.  The change to the 15 minute rule from 20 minutes has good benefits as waiting time is greatly reduced.  However if you intend to play games and put your name on the ladder board, you must start the games right away and not indulge in a long warm up period.

Thank you again to the players who helped storing the tables.  Much appreciated.  Please remember that only Brad, Brandt, Walter, Damir and I can fold up the tables as each of them are particular.

See you Friday.

Admittance fee increase

All

As mentioned in a previous post and discussed on the floor for a few weeks, we need to increase the admittance fees to $8 per session.  This increase is definitely not for profit but just to break even and be able in the long run to replace the equipment.

Please bring exact change this Friday 🙂

Thank you

Yvan

February 10th 2016 session

After a slow night the week before, we were back to good numbers of players.  The 15 minutes sessions work well and allow for more frequent turnover on the tables.

If games were played, the ladder board has not changed.  We have a steady influx of new players, which is good for the club.

Discussions and study are under progress to insure the survival of the club after the June deadline.  It is beginning to be obvious that an increase in admission cost is inevitable.  to that extent, I would appreciate any comments on how you feel with an increase in admission to $8 per night.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated

Thank you

Yvan

January 20th session

All

We had a great turnout and things ran pretty well.  The 15 minutes per session provides a quicker turn over of players and the limitation to 17 players is working well.

Few games were played therefore the ladder has not changed.

Thanks for the players that helped out the tables and equipment away.  Went a lot quicker!!

See you friday

Friday, January 13th 2017 session

All

Despite being Friday the 13th, things went ‘relatively’ well in our new location and added table, however some things became apparent.

The newly implemented 15 minutes per session required due to the large number of players is a big change and is still under consideration. 15 minutes still allows time to play 3 out of 5 matches for our ladder but it is tight

Talking about the ladder, very few matches are played. Remember we have 2 divisions, Division 1 is for the top 6 players and Division 2 for the mass and prizes will be awarded at the end of the season in June.

A reminder to all that under the city rules, we are not allowed players under 19. That is a shame and I am working on this.

Also, and for this I take the blame, 21 players as we had is simply too many. We will apply with more diligence the 17 player limit as a first come first serve basis. We need to rely on each and everyone of the players to insure that everyone gets their turn. At this time, I do not believe that a method (numbers, names on board, etcc…) to select the next players is practical but it may be required if players do not have their equal turns to the tables.

The new location definitely brings more exposure to the club therefore more walk-ins of different skill levels and experience are and will attend our sessions. I have no doubt that our regulars we will welcome them with open arms and a friendly game.

If you need pointers, or advice on equipment, let me know and we will work something out.

Finally, many thanks to the players that helped setting up and storing the tables and equipment.

See you Friday

We Are Moving Soon

Our activities at the Port Nelson Church will cease on December 23th due to the upcoming renovations which are to be completed in August 2018. You all are invited to our annual Christmas party at the Judge & Jury (1222 Walkers Line, Burlington) on that date for refreshments provided by the Club. As usual, play will be stopped at 9 PM on that night.

The new location will allow us to have 5 tables available for play therefore the maximum number of players will increase from 14 to 17. Play will continue to be every Friday from 7 to 10 PM (except for April 14th where we will be closed). Use the main entrance, the Auditorium will be the first door on your right.

See you Friday…

Good news!!

All

As you know, we will loose our facility in December..

We have secured a facility in Burlington from January 2017 to June 2017 at a rate that we can afford with a secure storage area for the tables.  That is the good news.  The rent at the facility is expensive but we got a partial fee waiver from the City of Burlington for that period of time only. After that, we will need to make a decision as to how we want to run the club, meaning stay small and close from June 2017 to August 2018 or built up a business plan to be submitted to the City to expand and get a full fledged gym, while being financially viable.  The plan would need to include children, old age homes, low cost official memberships and probably lessons.

For the moment, the contract is not yet signed, so hold on.

We will definitely discuss the future of the club in weeks to come as this would be a major change in the management and operations of the club.

See you Friday
