R.I.P Agostinho Campos

It is with deep sadness that we have learned of Agostinho’s passing early this week. He was a good friend of all the players in the table tennis community in the Hamilton-Burlington region. He loved the game and showed it by organizing his own table tennis club in Hamilton for a good number of years now.

We will miss him dearly.

October 2nd 2015

Hi all

Attendance was low at 10 players as several members took the night off..

Highlight was Damir loosing his long standing to place to Carlos, which now becomes the man to beat in the first division.

No other official matches were played, as far as I know…

Remember that there will be prizes at the end of the season for Div 1, Div 2 and women. So get on playing matches!!!

September 11th session

We had a full house for most of the night with 3 walk ins.. There are still several regulars that are yet to show up and when they do, we will not be able to accept walk ins.

Still very few games were played but it is early in the season.

Reminder to all on the 20 minutes limit to allow everyone to play.

There are still 2 shirts/shorts combo available although they are on the smaller size. Also available are stickers for either outside or inside windows, and these are for free.

See you next week

September 4th session

All

Our first session was held in a slightly warm gym, which confirms that our decision of not playing in June, July, and August is a good one.

Eleven players showed up. Carlos is coming back and Calrton is a new addition to our club. He is an experienced player.

Only one match in the ladder and as usual, I lost to Damir.

With the new ladder divisions, I encourage everyone to play more matches.. Hitting the ball in practice without much purpose does not improve your game much.

See you next friday.

Season 2015-2016

To all,

The 2015-2016 start is around the corner. We are opening this Friday, September 4th at our usual of 7 PM closing at 10 PM.

There will be no changes this season compared to last season. Maximum of 14 players at any time on the floor and entrance fee remains at $5.

We have replenished our stock of stickers and now have some that can be applied to glass. They will be available near the sign up sheet.

We will soon have new barriers with our logo to replace the barriers that were on loan last season. If the experience is satisfactory, we could add more barriers near the walls. Your feedback is appreciated.

As attendance not was what expected last season, there will be no lessons offered by Elite Table Tennis on Saturdays. As such, the replacement of the last green table might take a while however we will replace the net on that table very soon.

I have made an attempt to issue shirts/shorts with our logo on them to supplement our bank account. Some of you have received these items due to your contribution to the club and I hope you enjoy them. I have some left however miscalculation on size left me well out of pocket in addition to being much more expensive than originally estimated and too small. If you want a branded shirt, let me know.

There will be changes to our ladder this year. We will account for sub categories which will be Women, Men rated top 5, and Men rated below top 5. At the end of the season, prizes will be awarded. If you have other ideas, let me know..

Some of the closures are currently known. They are Nov 13th, Jan 1st and March 25th. Mark your calendars accordingly. We will advise if additional dates are added.

Most importantly, our Club relies on it’s regular players to financially survive and buy equipment. With the limitation of 14 players on the floor to ensure adequate playing time for all, we need to limit the number of walk-in players. And if the regular players do not show up, this reduces much needed income and diversity of players to play with. As such, if you do not intend to attend our session on a regular basis, please let me know so I can invite new players to the club.

These are the news.

See you on Friday!!!

Season is over, thank you to all

To all players that attended our Club this season.

Thanks to frugal spending, good care of the equipment, and a business partnership, we were able to purchase a new big blue table. This was a third one and we already looking forward to replace the last green table with a 4th big blue one. We also used barriers for the first time and the experience was positive. We will repeat next season.

In addition, thanks to Lan Gao, we have a brand new web site, a Facebook page and a twitter account so we can communicate throughout the summer and next season. Many thanks Lan.

I want to thank Brandt who helped greatly this season with the equipment. Also, thanks to Ben and Damir for their help this season.

We had a great time at our last session with a visit to a local bar. Thanks to all that attended.

Our next season will start on September 4th 2015. See you then
